The bloom ………

One fine morning, hot and humid
On my way to work,
One flower attracted me
Only one, the yellow one.

It was bright but small
It was fresh and glowing
I wonder why I looked at it,
Intended to be ignored by many.

Un-known to many
Un-wanted by all
Unable to attract
Uninvited by the whole world.

Desert sands are dry,
Desperate to bloom
Denied by the nature where even mirages
Disappear from sight.

“Will there be a bee?
Will the honey from the petals be sucked?
Will someone pick me to the flower vase?
Will I ever become a decorative piece?”

The yellow desert flower asked
“Thou shall die?”
The echo returned to the yellow petals
“Then why am I born?”

God has been kind
Good I noticed that yellow flower
Goodness being spread in the desert lands
Great vibrant yellow flower, for me to enjoy that moment.

Lone, all alone
Lovely flower that you are
Lonely you stand, just for that bee to arrive
Love you so much, as you stand, for me to watch.

Creation is a stone thrown uphill against the downward rush of habit
Creatures are trying to accomplish big; not realizing life is made up of small things
Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want,
’Cause, it’s the realization of how much you already have …. That little yellow desert flower.

  4. Very simple but philosophical. I liked the following lines very much

    Desert sands are dry,
    Desperate to bloom
Denied by the nature where even mirages
    Disappear from sight.

Mahakavi Kumaran Ashan wrote a philosophical poem on a ‘Fallen Flower’ (Veena Poov). This one on ‘Un-fallen Flower’ !!!
    All the best.
